kenneth_kpe 0 Posted December 14, 2010 Hi, everybody, is there a way to identify a generic DVR recorder, e.g. compatible software etc etc , that I can use, it should make looking for compatible remote viewing software easier ! lets say if there is a standard format or something that generic DVR recorders use ? I know i cant link the DVR website here (against rules). but the format is h.264? the brand i think is bxs 7004
rory 0 Posted December 14, 2010 Couple ways, screen shots of the GUI or Remote Video Software. Another way I like to do it is just find what ActiveX control they use, normally there is a company name in that somewhere. If its an OEM it will normally still have the manufacturers original activeX. Otherwise there is no such thing as a generic DVR really, they all have different manufacturers. Some may use the same board or firmware though, but most will customize it even if that is the case, and in doing this the ports can differ and other features as well. kenneth_kpe 0 Posted December 15, 2010 Thanks for the reply. I actually found the manufacturer website and they have a downloadable version of the desktop app, but i cannot seem to find their apps for android and iphone! im looking at their website now with specs... does not really say much about the active X control... just that it supports CMS (computer management software??) and mobile viewing! actually was able to make it work with my e72 and ipad/itouch... but wanted to switch over to android! I have to agree that it is really difficult to look for software on the web that would actually work ! even if the inputs are the same (ip, port uname pass) everybody seems to be using a different conect method or what ? rory 0 Posted December 15, 2010 Who's the manufacturer? Most still dont have Android apps, even Iphone apps are still kind of new. Did you goto the real manufacturers site in Asia?

rory 0 Posted December 15, 2010 never heard of them, is it a chinese or korean website? As long as it has no prices on it (eg retailer/wholesaler) then feel free to post the link.
kenneth_kpe 0 Posted December 16, 2010 if thats the case then i guess its ok ! http://www.bxsdvr.com/ they even have an online demo for accessing their dvrs in china! also as a side question, if I want to connect a microphone to my CCTV, im trying to search around amazon for mics, they seem to be powered microphones? im assuming that all microphones are compatible ? I mean it uses the same audio jack anyway ! and this is a microphone!
rory 0 Posted December 16, 2010 Yes just 12VDc. Ive use ones without jacks and make my own connections to plug into the DVR. Going by their site they dont look like that big a company. Also their Client software leaves little to be desired and most the web pages are .. blank
kenneth_kpe 0 Posted December 27, 2010 yeah... it was very cheap (the dvr) thanks for the advice regarding the mic !
