How to Merge Avi's?

The crooks are going crazy in my neighborhood this Holiday Season.

I am trying to combine (merge) AVI videos from one camera #4 for instance and than say camera #2 for the next frame. How is that done? Is there a manual online for version Geo 8.4? If I cannot figure it out I will download some software that well combine the AVI's for me. But I figure the 8.4 software should be able to do it some how.

Also I am trying to figure out the best software to convert the AVI's so they can be viewed on a TV via DVD player. Thanks for the help. Dave

Virtualdub can do both and it's free.

unfortunately I havent found anything yet that can convert Geo .. except from uploading it to Facebook or Youtube .. then downloading it again from there - facebook is better quality BTW. Ive tried VLC, Virtual Dub, Handbrake ... if anything you get the video upside down which is useless. Im sure there is probably a paid program out there though that does it.
