Axis camera station questions

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if Axis Camera Station takes advantage of the muilti-streams from Axis cameras. Can you record one stream and view another? Also can you use the locate storage (SD cards) for recording?

it can do it but it costs you a license per stream/channel. you just add them like you do the multiport encoders. I just did get a p1347 to try that today

Cam station only uses the local sd storage for fail over recording if cam station goes down or loses connection to the camera.

though you can setup the camera to store another stream on its own but you cant view it in cam station

I've been playing with the local SD for recording and it a little buggy on the 3344.

The download function does not seem to work on the camera playback window.

Also to view a recording I have to let it run a while, gives me error messages say if I start a recording and then a few minutes later try to play back a clip (that starts say slightly after the beginning). But anyway they are looking into it. They are expensive but they do have pretty good support.

Clips play back in a window all right (using quick time), but if I download a clip I have to use VLC player (recommended to me by Axis). I wish it would just give me a file that would play in quicktime or windows media player, I never could get the latter to work on gave up on that once I got VLC working.

Yea I was looking at the local recording on the P5534 and I can't find a way to download the video from the camera That doesn't seam like a very useful feature if you have to get a lift every time you need to download video from the camera

I didn't have any success with SD recording on the Panasonic 502 either. This fail-safe SD recording looks good on paper, but getting it to work is problematic for some cameras.

Best,

Christopher

On the P3344 the download function does work at least for events on the "continuous recording" or "recording list" window, using the download button.

It may get resolved yet on the other problems I had, they are thinking it has something to do with where the camera is picking up the time.
