magic83 0 Posted December 24, 2010 Hi All- Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! I recently figured out, correct me if I'm wrong, that there are such a thing as IR cameras/illuminators that have no visible red infrared illumination whatsoever....What are those called? I'm looking for an easy outdoor bullet style or whatever, camera with infrared but no visible infrared... Thanks very much in advance!
cglaeser 0 Posted December 24, 2010 The further the wavelength is from the visible spectrum, the more difficult for the human eye to see. IR Illuminators come in two major wavelengths, 850nm and 940nm. Humans can see a red glow at 850nm, and virtually nothing at 940nm. Keep in mind, however, that even sensors that can detect IR are also less sensitive at 940nm as well. So, if you want a covert IR source, 940nm is what you want. Just make sure the camera has sufficient sensitivity at that wavelength. Best, Christopher
magic83 0 Posted December 25, 2010 Can you give me an example of a camera with it built in?
