Soundy 1 Posted January 7, 2011 Can I use a dedicated PC instead of an NVR? Sure; you just need to install some form of NVR software (Exacq, Milestone, etc. - there are several out there). 8 Cameras (3 megapixel IP, & 5 analog)IP cameras on a switch and the 5 analog connected to a 25 pin cable w 16 BNC Balun. What you need, then, is either an analog capture card for the analog cameras, and hybrid-DVR software; or a multi-channel video-to-IP server to make the analog cameras "networkable".
