bill_gates 0 Posted January 12, 2011 Hello, I want to install a 2 speed dome system for outdoor use that supports the auto tracking function, I would like it to be able to spot movement in the protected area and then automatically start to follow the object in motion, not necessarily zooming in; I would also want to know if I program it to follow some preset points and move continuously among these points, will it be able to start tracking the motion if it detects some? I would like to have them connected to a GV capture card that I can work to through internet. I would like to ask if there is technically possible to do that. Thank you very much for your support. SEANHAWG 1 Posted January 12, 2011 I am surprised that being the majority owner of Microsoft that you would not know how to do this. No but seriously, yes its possible but the auto-tracking PTZ's are expensive as heck and although I have never worked with one, I just expect that there will be too many false alarms with it where it really wouldn't be worth its money. Dont know if you are on a budget or not but you would save some money without the auto-tracking PTZ's. Or, it would also be cheaper to get a few wide angled mega pixel cameras that you can digitally zoom in on later.
bill_gates 0 Posted January 13, 2011 You know, customizing key generators for windows 7 and spider solitaire can be very tricky, so I didn't have much time left to learn about cctv, sorry about the lack . Yes, you are right about that, it might be very expensive and not so efficient to use auto tracking, but I was curios, the auto tracking function must be supported by the speed dome and it will be triggered by the capture card or is it triggered directly by the speed dome itself? In other words, do I really need to use a capture card to have auto tracking, or it will work even with a speed dome linked directly to a tv set, for example? Thank you very much for your help, best wishes Traian aka Bill Gates
Soundy 1 Posted January 13, 2011 It really depends on the dome. Almost any PTZ can be used for auto-tracking with the proper support software, where the software tracks and controls the dome... but there are also several that do all the auto-tracking internally. bill_gates 0 Posted January 14, 2011 Thanks again for your concern. Will it be possible to use some outdoor motion detectors that will trigger the movement of the speed dome through one preset point somewhere nearby the motion detector, and, in the absence of a movement, the speed dome cruises around the premises? Sorry if I am to pushy but I want to offer to my client a fair solution for protecting his area. Thank you very much again, Traian.
Soundy 1 Posted January 14, 2011 That is also possible, depending on the controller (keyboard or DVR). Some can accept alarm inputs and trigger multiple presets from them. Again, it's mostly a matter of cost...
rory 0 Posted January 14, 2011 For the cost of 2 tracking PTZs you could put in some decent fixed cameras to cover the area, add in a good alarm system with some optex beams, loud sirens, strobes, and call it a day. All that and then not have 2 to worry about a motor going bad from too much movement.
