Sentient 250GB H.264 Network DVR

Hi there. I see others have struggled, at least one succeeded, but no details.

 

I appreciate I’m asking for a lot of effort but if I can be helped I’m sure a lot of others will benefit.

 

Going nuts with Sentient DVR 250 Gb H.264 Network DVR trying to get Network settings correct. I only have half an idea what I’m doing but in my defence the instructions are crap. Help!!

 

I believe I have set port forwarding OK on the router and Norton 360.

 

When set in Static IP mode I can log in OK and see the cameras within the home wireless network (Sagem Sky Router) if I enter the internal ip address of the DVR e.g. 192.168.0.3 into IE. The same (apparently) if the IP setting is switched to DHCP.

 

I have no confidence at all in being able to do the same remotely because I have very little clue what to enter into the other Network Tab fields. To enable an easier reply, these are:

Port Setting Tab:

6. HTTP Port………..80…….....(I have opened ports for all of these. In a Router

7. Command Port…...6001….Service table though, DVR1 is 80, DVR 2 is 1159,

8. Media Port……….6002….....DVR3 is 1259, DVR4 is 13551. I expected to see

9. Mobile Port………6003….....the 80 – but the others? Does this matter?)

 

Advance Setting Tab:

PPPOE Setting

10. Enable PPPOE…. Enable

11. User……………..Router log in name……….Doubt this is correct

12. Password……… Router log in password……Doubt this is correct

13. Confirm password……….Ditto……………………Ditto

DDNS Setting

14. Enable DDNS…...Enable

15. DDNS Server……members.dyndns.org……(From drop down list) ???

16. Device Domain Name…myhostname.dyndns-at-home.com……OK?

17. DDNS User……..DynDNS.com Account name…….OK???

18. DDNS Password…DynDNS.com Account password……OK???

19. Confirm Password………………Ditto

Email Setting

I also have an account with DynDns and a Host name myhostname.dyndns-at-home.com with an updater facility, current ip address of xx.xxx.xxx.xxx but I haven’t used this address anywhere.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any reply could make reference to the Field numbers as listed. Praying for a response, Carl B.

you may have gone to far into your router settings. you only need services and firwall settings.

 

 

 

click security once loged on to your router.

then click services at the bottom of that window click add custom service.

then choose a name for the service i.e cctv.

then click TCP/UDP and then enter your ports number then click apply.

 

you will need to do this for each port needed so

 

cctv = 80

cctv1 = 6001

cctv2 = 6002

cctv3 =6003

 

 

now click firewall rules.

 

filter name = dvr

service = choose a rule you created i.e cctv(TCP/UDP 80) from drop down list.

allow always

your dvrs local ip 192.168.0.3

wan user = any

 

do this for all your ports that you created and press apply after each.

 

 

then your done. use google to find your external ip myip.com you can then log on as http://yourip/port.
