CCTV_Suppliers 0 Posted February 4, 2011 you can use wifi camera and cms software for the 50nos of camera. any better solution to install those 50 ip cams? Are any of these cameras assigned to be PTZ camera? Any of these cameras to be used for exterior coverage? Where is this this store located geographically? Will there be any operator(s) in this store full time basis? How many external remote control stations will you need or how many users will be accessing any of these systems? How many days of recording is required and what rate and resolution? Will this system must comply with PCI Compliance? If so, consider one of its requirements of 90 days of recording. Will this system require POS interface for transaction monitoring with video content and extensive search capabilities? There are more questions, but the above content is a good starting point. Dependent on answers, it will be easier to consider either IP solution or analog cameras solution... Let us know..
bpzle 0 Posted February 4, 2011 While this is an interesting topic of conversation... an internet forum (even a great one like this) is an insufficient way to be learning the fundamentals to prep oneself for a 50 camera design/ install... I mean no offense when I say that if one doesn't even know how IP cameras work, they have no business designing a system of this scale. Worse yet, they probably have no business deciding that 50 cameras are even the count of cameras needed. Professionals will save you time and more importantly, money. Just find the right one... Good luck to you!
oldtimer 0 Posted February 8, 2011 We have many systems with as many as 140 cameras. But make sure you have multipal recorders and never put a certain section on one recorder "etc". Intermix the camera's on diferent recorders, so if a recorder goes out you still have some coverage in that area. Stay away from wireless. Stores especially grocery stores are at the present time subject to persons claiming injuries from falls and merchndise falling on them. Shop lifting is secondary. Times are tough and people are broke. Many resort to these fake claims. Chances are they will not constantly monitor each camera. The stored pictures are what they need mainly. One very large fast food chain we have as a client, requires 22 cameras on average. They told us, to go into court to respond to a personal injury complaint, it sums up to around 22 grand. If they have pictures to prove a fraud, the complaint is dropped at deposition time. Saving a large sum of money. We had such a case one time, when the system had just been turned on 20 minutes before hand. That settlement paid for the system.
