First build PC based Dvr unit

Hi to all,

I am new to this forum & am going to build Pc based dvr I have 2 cards in mind that I am considreing using.

can somebody please tell me what is te difference between the 2 cards & which is the best card.

I don't know much about either of these cards. you must have narrowed down to those two for a reason. Maybe because they are the least expensive that run HiKvision software?

 

I hope you don't require high frame rates, because both of those cards max out at 30fps at CIF, less at 4CIF.

you'll be lucky to get 2 to 4 fps per channel.

I certainly require more than 2 - 4 frames ps per channel these are not cheap cards I know they are chinese but I have seen very positive posts on this form about Netvision & Hikvision cards. bongofury would you or some other forum member please explain how you arrive at figure of 2- 4 fps per channel for cif or less for 4cif I assumed that these cards were capable of recording 200fps(P)/240fps(N) as they are 8 channel cards is this not 25fps(p) 30fps (n) I am confused? please advise.

This is from netvision's:

supports 4CIF recording with 12fps (PAL)/15fps (NTSC) for all channels.

They should elaborate on that, whether that is for EACH channel, or ALL channels would mean total.

The second one is a DS-4008HCI, and it does 200fps at 2CIF (that is 8 channels at 2CIF 25fps each channel). It can also do 4CIF at 10-12fps per channel.

I don't know the other one, but it seems to do about the same, 2CIF realtime or 4CIF 12-15fps each channel.
