custombill 0 Posted January 19, 2011 I used to have a Lorex system with eight cameras. The system died and I'm looking to setup another system. Nothing fancy just something that will last longer then the lorex. This is what I came up with. Speco DVR8TH1TB Recorder. I will be running the recorder 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Is this a Good Recorder? Cameras: I need a B/W Bullet cameras, no infrared leds, or sun shade, just a plain B/W Bullet camera with 500 to 600 resolution, with interchangeable lens, Starting at 3mm and up, or can be a varifocal lens. The cable line to the camera will be around 100 to 150Ft from the DVR. I was checking out this camera: KPC-EXH190SWX Is this a good setup? Can someone here recommend a good camera and DVR here? Thanks.
SEANHAWG 1 Posted January 20, 2011 Are you sure the Lorex died and not the hard-drive inside. Its pretty rare for an actual DVR to die, but its pretty common for a hard-drive to go out. If you decide to get another hard-drive, get a Seagate SV series.
custombill 0 Posted January 20, 2011 I replaced the hard drive with a seagate a few years ago worked good until now. This time when it died I checked the hard drive and its good. Something inside burned up because I smell burnt wire. Also the unit is about 8 years old. So I think its time to upgrade..
