Sentient 250Gb H.264 Network DVR - Crashing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas regarding a problem I'm having with a Sentient 250Gb H.264 Network DVR purchased from Maplin.

All is working correctly on the local network except more often than not when firing up the DVR Client from IE8 the DVR locks up (ie the live display continues, the mouse curor freezes and the box stops recording). A reboot generally fixes the problem and the DVR Client then functions correctly.

I've a suspicion the problem lies with the Active-X software or IE8 - is anyone aware of anything I need to set to prevent this?

Address from IE8 is http://192.168.1.110:49153/ - I've tried lower port numbers with the same result. DVR IP is fixed.

The network is linked via a router and a fast switch, but communication between PCs and the DVR are fine when they work, it's just the first attempt usually requires a DVR reboot!

Is this a 'return it to Maplin' or have I missed something?

Many Thanks,

Al

PS Finally tracked down the manufacturer in China, thought I might find a firmware upgrade (no luck) - it's 'China Security & Surveillance Distribution Inc'. Will keep any eye on the site as there is a software download section, it just has nothing relating to this model (D3684HT)

Hi,

I have had this problem also. Recently purchased this DVR from Maplins in the sale. Have 4 cameras running through it. I have no complaints with it except the software i VERY buggy!

I took the first DVR I had back to Maplins and exchanged it for this one, which was working perfectly until tonight when I logged in, then it crashed.

Also, states on box "works with Blackberry", it doesn't! Supplied CD did not contain software, spent hours hunting it down myself on the internet, then I cant get the damn software to work, it shows 1 frame, then goes black!

Let me know if you find anything that will help, will sure do the same if I come across anything!

Cheers

Rich

Bought same system in sale from maplins.

product code: N09JJ

Reasonable hardware but some serious software issues.

Usable when connected to a vga monitor. But...

1. I am unable to log onto the box via web - IE8 Win7. Dvr crashes and locks up requiring

a pull the plug to reset it.

2. Box said it would work with IPhone using a free downloadable app.

When I tried the app (meye) - it said you had to pay for a "Pro" version.

3. I cannot figure out how to get it to record only when there is motion.

Setting time schedule boxes to "Green" is supposed to do it

I can get it to beep when there is motion - but - it continually records.

If anyone has any hints on how to get this working (remote access or event recording) please let me know.

Would have returned it except all the wires are fixed behind walls now

ps. from trial and error of lots of apps out there, for IPhone and Android

- found out the free IPhone app "APlayer" works with this dvr. If a little unstable sometimes.
