Recommended Posts

I would like something basic.

Even if you know of something free to try.

Free is good but would buy if i have to.

I keep getting camera jobs tat i would like to be more detailed on.

there is nothing better that a pen and a pad and a digital camera. you can spend hours messing with software to give to your protential customer who will also give a copy of your hard work to another company to quote and you might not even get the work.

Funny you mentioned this.

Just yesterday me and a friend took my MacBook Pro w-capture device and the actual Camera and a ladder.

Shot 6 area's.

Paint Shot Pro

But whatever you use, like WireGuys said charge for it, unless maybe its a huge job. You could spend hours with a client and still never get the job.

Camera's are just time consuming.

I like what i have learned over the years.

But getting paid is the secret.

It's a bit of a learning curve if you're not used to 3D CAD software, and like Tom says, sometimes a pad and pencil is just as fast and effective, but if you have the time to learn it, I imagine it would take no time at all to bang out a design once you're familiar with it.

Two of our major clients have floor plans of all their sites in PDF format... one thing I like to do is load those up into Adobe Illustarator (or InkScape, an opensource clone), where the whole thing is vectorized, and I can easily add camera icons, coverage angles, and so on to a drawing, then re-export as PDF, JPG, or whatever suits.
