bobnoxious 0 Posted February 4, 2011 Hi, I'm an electrician just did my first CCTV install. I did some work for a Doctor in his clinic, and he asked about CCTV. I offered to install the cameras and DVR, no problems. I now need to set up internet viewing and am a bit lost. http://www.amazon.com/Security-Channels-Surveillance-Recorder-Included/dp/tech-data/B0035HGGQ2/ref=de_a_smtd&tag=gpse-20 This above is the system I'm working with. It has "VideoViewer" software included. The instructions for setting it up aren't too clear. The clinic has DSL with Linksys router. I've installed the "VideoViewer software on the PC next to the DVR. Also the Dr. has "EagleEye" app on his Iphone he wants to use. Can someone help me get this going please? Thanks in advance
Con 0 Posted February 5, 2011 I am a brand new user and NOT computer literate at all. I just followed the instructions that came with my Q-See system. I know that is NOT the system you have but I found the instructions so generic that I pass them on to you. If you read the parts about port-forwarding and follow them (including going to the website for what type of Linksys router you have) and then read the My Q-See website about obtaining a static ip address, I think you may better understand. You said you are an electrician so you most likely will see all the analogies, even though your screens will be different. You can use the My Q-See website without having their product. Read this site first: http://www.q-see.com/files/manuals/QT4%20Series%20Manual_Web.pdf Then this site: http://www.q-see.com/files/HowToFiles/T-Setting%20up%20MYQ-SEE%20DDNS.pdf Hope this helps. SEANHAWG 1 Posted February 5, 2011 From what I have seen, Q-see has excellent instructions for there DVR's, especially when it comes to getting it set up over the internet. Their instructs should help, it pretty much the same type of instructs for all DVR's, just different Menu Screens.
bobnoxious 0 Posted February 5, 2011 Hey, thanks guys. I do have some basic IT skills, but the manual is written in Chinglish...lol. The DVR lives beside a PC, I thought I read that I need to connect DVR directly to PC so the viewer program can grab the addy from it. Is that right? I'll check out the Q-see for sure tonight, thanks for the help. Installing the system was a piece of cake, it seems to be of decent quality, although the price was $600 last month when the Dr. ordered it, now $480 something.
