Remote Playback Software for Iphone or Android

Recommended Posts

What i am looking for is some software that supports remote playback of recorded video from a camera to an Iphone, Ipad or android type device. Most of the software out there supports live viewing but not the playback of recorded images.

You need a NVR that supports Iphone and Android to do this.

What NVR manufactures have an app that supports remote playback?

If you use ExacqVision as the NVR, then Exacq mobile on the iPhone will play back recorded video. The only caveat is you have to specify the time of the play back in a ten minute window. For example, you could request to see video recorded at 2:05 am for 10 minutes, and if there was something recorded between 2:05 and 2:15, it will show you what was recorded. However, you can't request a streaming playback of anything that occurred after 2:05 and see something that started recording at 2:33. I have requested the ability to see when events were recorded, and they have acknowledged this would be useful and may add this to a future release, but it was not on the development schedule the last time I talked to Exacq. I have not tested the Android, but I think it works the same.

The cool thing about Exacq mobile is the connection speed. It comes up pretty fast. And, you can add multiple servers, multiple views, and multiple cameras, and zip around the different views pretty quickly, rotate, zoom in, zoom out. I don't use PTZ, but that's supported too. I tested it on the Exacq server, and you can move the cameras around, but there is a lag. You could see over here and see over there, but tracking someone who is walking is likely too tedious.

Best,

Christopher

Exacq also works on the iPad. Due to the screen size, Exacq on the iPad is awesome.

Also, if you currently own any of the supported smartphones or tablets, you can download the Exacq demo for free. You can connect to cameras they have at the Exacq office.

This is one of the reasons I like Exacq. Another benefit is that eMail notification actually works. Many cameras and NVRs claim to support eMail, but many have problems with ISP ports and other issues.

Best,

Christopher

I will have to check it out. Sounds like what I am looking for. Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Forgot to mention, you can also get a demos of the Exacq client and/or server. M Miller at the Wire Guys can set you up.

Best,

Christopher
