DVR to PC

Recommended Posts

HI Guys,

I am new here so go easy please!!!

I have just purchased a DVR. I currently have my PC connected via wireless to my wireless router/modem. I was hoping to put the DVR in the same room as my PC.

My question is if i could connect the DVR through the PC and then still be able to view it remotely?? Would i need a crossover cable also i think??

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

You only need a crossover cable if you are directly connecting the PC to DVR which means you would have no network and no remote connection

You'd need a crossover cable, yes... and yes, you would be able to access the DVR from the internet, with the right setup.

You'd have to configure the DVR and the LAN adapter with IPs in the proper range, and configure Windows to bridge the two adapters.

It's a lot of messing around, though, and you're probably looking at a few gray hairs by the time you troubleshoot it... but it can be done.
