Scot 0 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi I had an incident that i tried to view from the bachup file once it was on a usb stick but obviously it never played in wmp etc. I have had another incident that i would like to review on my PC before passing to police and have the relevant h.264 files backed up, but couldnt get them to work previously with VLC. I had a good search on internet about FEMplayer (if that is correct) but essentially need anything i can view one of these backup files on. Im not too au fait with cctv systems, and this is kind of new to me, but im fairly good on a PC. If anyone can assist i really would appreciate thier help. Thankyou in advance
survtech 0 Posted February 17, 2011 I didn't know Bach used h.264. I thought he composed using keyboards (piano, harpsichord & organ) and violin.
Scot 0 Posted February 17, 2011 Wow. With 1300 posts under your belt id have thought you could have done better than that? Can you offer any help, or cant you 'Handel' it? You see what i did there.
SEANHAWG 1 Posted February 17, 2011 I didn't know Bach used h.264. He was really ahead of his time. He once compressed a 5 hour symphony into 1 minute with the power of H.264.
SEANHAWG 1 Posted February 17, 2011 No but seriously though. Did your DVR not come with a playback player to be viewed on computers? How long is the video clip? I have found with VLC that if its a really long video clip, it sometimes takes it a while to start playing, especially if its the first time you have ever used VLC. The first time I used VLC, it had to find my "cache settings" whatever that means and it took nearly 5 minutes for my video to start playing. After that though, they play right away. Also, does your DVR allow you to save to an AVI file? If so, you might try backing that up in that format to see if you have any different results.

Perhaps you should listen to Walter Carlos (or as he/she is now known Wendy) "switched on on Bach" He/she plays the Brandenburg Concertos on a Moog Synthesiser an experience worth having, I wonder what Bach himself would have made of it though? Sorry for wandering off subject...
