EverFocus EDSR-1600 & Remote Viewing (Problem)

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon,

I was hoping someone might be able to provide some advice with a problem that I am having. I have an older DVR (EverFocus EDSR-1600), and my goal is to be able to connect to the cameras remotely. I feel like this is a bit trickier because the internet at the office is Qwest DSL. I can connect while on the internal network just fine to the specified IP address that shows on the DVR, and I opened up the the ports that manual says to be able to view the cameras (80, 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, and 6666). Obviously I am not doing something correctly, because when I try to access the cameras from outside the network, I can't do so. Are the certain settings that I have to change because I am using DSL and not cable?

I apologize if I haven't provided enough information, so if there is something else that I need to write down, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I was able to make a lot of progress yesterday, and finally from outside the network, I am able to type in the address that I set up using dyndns.org, and see the camera login screen. The problem I am having now is that after I type in the correct user name and password, I receive an error saying "Server No Free Connection." I searched as much as I could on google, and found someone who had, perhaps, the same problem. He said this:

As far as my situation goes I got the camera software to finally work from my home computer. It turns out that my firewall on the server for my camera system at my work was blocking a certain range of external IP addresses from accessing the cameras. My IP address that I was using from home just happened to be one of them. Once that range was allowed to come in through the firewall I was able to connect to my cameras with no problem once I logged in with the user name and password.

I'm trying to think about where I would go to check the firewall settings... If anyone has any other ideas, I would love to hear.

Thanks in advance.

if you want i could see if i can set it up for you so you can view your cameras online how i see your problem is that you need to port forward (80, 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, and 6666). on your router to the dvr system then once that is done you need to go to the website www.whatsmyipaddress.org and get the ip address it says at the top of the screen then you need to go to iternet explorer and go on tools, iternet options, securityand then custom level and from here you enable the activex controls but it is only certain ones you enable and i know which ones but i can't explain which ones you need then once these activex controls have been enabled you need to get the ip address that you got of whatsmyipaddress.org and the web port number of the dvr which i presume in your case is port 80 and you type the following into the address bar of internet explorer http://(ip address from whatsmyipaddress.org goes here) then after the ip address at the end of it you put :80/ and then press enter then a drop down box should appear beneath the tool bar at the top of the screen click on it and download the activex controls then once done all you will need to do is log it to you cctv online using your login details for the dvr.
