CCTVmember2011 0 Posted March 4, 2011 Hello. I have an 8-channel digital video surveillance recorder, but there is a ninth, black/blank box. Is this normal? In order for the multiple cameras to show normal shape and size (ie. 4:3 aspect ratio), the screen has to be divided into equal segments... that means 2x2 (4 channels), 3x3 (9 channels), 4x4 (16 channels), and so on. Since there are only 8 inputs, one of the channels simply remains blank. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Birdman Adam 0 Posted March 4, 2011 Many DVRs sold have 9 inputs. If you were to open up the DVR you would probably see traces for a 9th input. Its probably disabled in software though. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
