observer 0 Posted March 7, 2011 Hi Guys, are there any camera wizards out there that can help with the following: I purchased a wireless Sentient colour cctv cam from Maplin, great camera but a very narrow field of view. I decided to fit a wide-angle lens, it worked and gave a fantastic field of view. But when I came to reassemble the unit I discovered that the new wide lens wouldn't allow the circular infra red circuit board into its old position in the cam. Making the best of a bad job, I decided to remove the IR illumination completely, and so removed the red,black,white, and yellow wires. The camera is now dead. I'm now wondering if I can couple those wires together so the camera (thinks) the IR unit is in place..? I know the camera isn't damaged, it's just got no power. Help anybody.....? Soundy 1 Posted March 7, 2011 Removed the wires from where? Normally in this sort of camera design, there will be two boards - one is the main camera board, and a separate one for the IR. Your incoming wires would connect to the camera board, and there would be a second pair of wires connecting that to the IR board (or they may split off from the main wiring bundle). The camera should be able to function completely independent of the IR portion. Typically, red would be +12VDC power, yellow would be video, white would be audio, and black would be a common ground for the other three. I wouldn't suggest connecting any of them together.
