paddy26 0 Posted March 14, 2011 Hi, I've searched on here and found some good information but it hasn't solved my problem. I disconnected my DVR as I wanted to upgrade the firmware. When I tried to turn the DVR on to perform the upgrade, the buzzer came on constant and only stops when I turn off the power switch. With the unit powered up, the harddrive light on the front of the DVR lights up green and the "LED1" on the motherboard is on constant. I tried reconnecting the DVR to my camera but the buzzer still sounds. Nothing shows up on the monitor either. I've tested my powersupply with a multimeter and it is working fine. I disconnected the harddrive and switched the power back on but the buzzer is still coming on constant. I also tried a hardware reset by jumping "tp5" and "tp6" but this did not stop the buzzer. Any help is greatly appreciated. Paddy
Birdman Adam 0 Posted March 15, 2011 So...Does the DVR still work normally? Its probably buzzing because of multiple signal losses - you know, the blue-screen you get when no camera is attached? If I was you I'd open it up and de-solder the buzzer from the main PCB. Is it really necessary anyways? Maybe take it further and wire in an LED with appropriate resistor... Then maybe solder it to a battery and throw to the neighbors' dogs to bark at.
paddy26 0 Posted March 15, 2011 thanks for your reply. I suppose the first thing I should have said was that it isn't working. The screen is black and it doesn't recognize any input connected. I have tested the screen and that is working fine. The first thing I did was cover the buzzer with a piece of tape to quieten it. I don't want to desolder it just yet as it will void the warranty. I also checked the 3v battery on the motherboard and that is fine. Could it be the motherboard itself? Is it a part that gives trouble? There are no obvious burn marks on the board where a component might have failed. Cheers, Paddy
