cctvlad 0 Posted March 20, 2011 I recently bought a PTZ LED Camera with 27x zoom I have a problem with the camera at night time full zoom back it comes up with a good picture but it sees dust particles too well its as if its snowing!! but however the camera has a very bright centre zone and its comes up as a bright circle BUT however if I zoom in more or farther out the picture on the object or the area is very good at night even at 200m away. so what you reckon I should do with that snowy picture? is it because theres no cut filter in it? all the best ye all. Soundy 1 Posted March 20, 2011 Nothing to do with the cut filter... everything to do with the fact that dust in the air (as well as snow, smoke, fog, etc.) reflects IR light. Short of disabling the IR, there really is nothing to be done about it.
bpzle 0 Posted March 20, 2011 ^what he said. What's happening is the lens is in the middle to, or extreamly close to the powerful light source. Similar to holding a very bright flashlight on a dark night peering into the distance, while holding it near your face... You're going to see the light's "beam" and all the dust in the air... Tunnel vision, if you will. Another disadvantage to having integrated IR... is you attract insects near the camera lens. Exhibit A:
cctvlad 0 Posted March 20, 2011 I agree with both of you there on the tunnel vision and inbuilt IR. because it is a powerful IR near the lens its going to be like this regardless of what i can do to improve the image on full back zoom. when the zoom on the object or area on a smaller scale the picture is impressive for its distance .eg cars like about 100 m away in pitch black. i think we can do without worrying about he snowy picture if the presets on the PTZ camera is set carefully at night to cover the relevant areas. the other problem I have is a dvr which controls the camera but wont save and autotour the presets. its a FUHO DVR at telco d . and how the feck do i turn off this auto spelling lol. SEANHAWG 1 Posted March 21, 2011 I would love to see some images of your camera that can shine 200 meters of ir. A model number of the cam would be awesome too.

cctvlad 0 Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks for the info guys made a lot of sense to me the customer is happy with the camera as it is. IR is definitely 150m - 200m range obviously the range of the zoom isn't. but across the fields i can see as far with it I got it from ebay the LED PTZ model something like this camera. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/27x-CCTV-Sony-1-4-CCD-480TVL-PTZ-Dome-Camera-IR-LEDs-/350223000414?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item518aeae35e the problems im having with it now is that saving the presets on the DVR and its FUHO dvr it wont save or auto tour the presets but it does autoscan.and i also cant get into the camera menu system either I bought a dedicated controller (sunkwang ar11) it works with Pelco D at 4800 saves presets and you have to manually tell it to go the presets but I want an auto sequence of that presets and i followed the manual of the controller to auto sequence it wont happen for me or get into he camera menu. is it to do with the baud rate and protocol should i change it or up it to 9600?? any help guys?? Good forum by the way. id like to know good models of LED Ptz's catch you later
rory 0 Posted March 23, 2011 dust, pollen, insects, etc, common place with IR in many areas. Is this near a source of water like a pool or pond?
rory 0 Posted March 23, 2011 id like to know good models of LED Ptz's There typically aren't any, the good PTZ manufacturers dont integrate IR into it, its added separately.

Good forum by the way. id like to know good models of LED Ptz's catch you later hi cctvlad. you are caught in the build cheap problem. nothing you have matches. .. your dvr. dont expect it to do much for $100. .......... and your $30 control unit is none programmable. you need to change your controller to one that you programme your tours. but with the set-up you have i would not set your ptz to tour. it will fill the h/drive in a few days (your ptz chanel will be recording all the time) say 3-4 days. and thats no good if you want to take a holiday or go away for a long weekend. As for getting into the PTZ menu have you tried going through the PTZ presets in the DVR(preset 85,90,91,95 etc.)??
