troy6363 0 Posted March 28, 2011 can anyone give any tips or best advice on fishing wires through eaves and into the attic of a house. How do you pick the best location where you should drill. What happens if you drill into the eave, fish the wire, and cant locate your fish wire in the attic?
rory 0 Posted March 28, 2011 dont know how others do it but its typically drill the hole, fish the snake as far as you can closest to the attic hole, then go up and attach the cable to the snake, then pull the wire to the hole. Best with 2 people.
SDM Group 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Make sure you drill at the same angle as the pitch of the roof to avoid drilling through it. Try to get a marker such as vent plate, locate in the attic and go off that, use an attic rat
SECURITYGUY 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Go to Home Depot and get you some glow rods in the electrical section. They are fiberglass rods that can be screwed together up to 15 ft or so. They have a fish eye in one end so you can connect your wire to it and fish it through the hole so that you can go in the attic and pull it through. Take you a clothes hanger and straighten it out so you can hook the wire if it gets into a corner and you cant crawl far enough to reach it. It is defiantly easier with two or more people though.
