HotOtt 0 Posted April 7, 2011 I've read many post about this with no solution. Others have posted about the same problem, and I've tried almost everything suggested. Here's my story. I had a break in Christmas 2010. Thief stole my VCR backup unit, but damaged and left behind the DVR. I really need the last few recorded minutes to prosecute. AVTECH 760 - It boots up and says "NO HDD", red light on mainboard blinks, everything else works. I contacted tech support where I got the DVR, they said buy another HD. I did and it does not recognize the new one either. The old drive is a maxtor 250gig IDE, the new one is a Hitachi 250 IDE. Another call to tech support told to "try (yet) another drive". I really think they don't have a clue. I'm a PC person, and it seems to me that the (HD controller) is bad. I've tried new ribbon cables, different jumper settings on both drives - nothing makes a difference. I also tested the Maxtor drive w/Seagate diagnostics, and it says the drive is good and has 32gig of data. There is a smaller board to the left of the mainboard. The old ribbon cable had some "heat marks/burns) on it from 2 round (capacitors) on this board. I also have to wonder if this is a power problem... however, there is power at the HD power connection, so I still think it's a "HD controller" issue. I recently came across this on Scorpions site: "RP63, 64, 66, 67, 68, 69, 365, 366 NO HD Shown In Red At Upper Right Corner Of Screen Then Replace RPs." What are "RPs"? Where are they located? Where can I get them? How to replace them? Is there anyplace to buy/replace the mainboards? This would be easier than soldering, though I can solder new circuits if needed. I can find very little tech info about this hardware, or parts links that work. PS: If anyone has a AV760m or parts for sale, I have cash.
