CTTV-DIY 0 Posted April 9, 2011 I have purchased a Samsung system from Sam's. In a word, it is crap! The picture quality is just awful. Thinking it was the cameras, I went to Frys and picked up two Swan Pro cameras with some improvement but still not what i expected or desired. Please make your suggestions on a great system. My wish list is as follows but not all are necessary: I want high quality video. At least 8 channels maybe 16. I would like a push to talk function with audio to the front door. (intercom) It must be Mac compatible so I can work with it on the iphone. But the unit can be DVR. I would like motion detection and alarming on as many channels as possible with email notification. I would like 2 cameras with zoom tilt and pan. (I have a three story house so the zoom should be able to reach out down the road) Low light or IR with good resolution is required. I would like to be able to distribute the video to a channel on my big screens throughout the house. All cameras must be rated for outdoors and I live in a humid climate. Much of the wire already run in my house is CAT 5 and security wire so if I could use this it would help. Budget is $10. Just kidding I will spend up to $3,000 maybe more if it really kicks ass. Thanks! Edit: HA! I just noticed I screwed up my user name HA! Great start!
Numb-nuts 1 Posted May 20, 2011 Find a CCTV specialist store and let them make a proposal for a scheme, If they are local to you they will come and take a look and make recommendations. That is my advice for what it's worth. It is impossible to give good recommendations without a survey. good luck with your project
