cp4874 0 Posted April 13, 2011 Hi mates I am looking for a security camera which can view up to a distance of 6km with day/night viewing capability. The view should help detection and is not intended for identification. Could you guys suggest any product that can serve our requirement Regards CP

SEANHAWG 1 Posted April 13, 2011 I would be curious to see what a camera that can see that far would cost. I imagine the lens alone would be $10,000+
Sawbones 0 Posted April 15, 2011 That's going to be an absolutely ludicrous zoom lens.
NotoriousBRK 0 Posted April 15, 2011 www.obzerv.com makes a product that will do what you want. Depending on configuration, the price will be around $200-$300K USD. I can put you in touch with the right people there if you like. Pentax's PAIR lens may also be an option. I believe those are much cheaper, around $25K USD, IIRC. Soundy 1 Posted April 15, 2011 viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11322&start=83 Long Range testing. Distance 6.2km Lens @ 600mm City from 6.2km Camera is a 16MP Avigilon Pro (anyone know the current MSRP on these things?). Lens is Sigma 300-800mm (retail about $8,000) with 2X teleconverter ($300). Tripods actually look exactly like my setup - Manfrotto 190CX legs with 486RC2 ball head (latest version of this package: http://www.manfrotto.com/product/8374.398.86698.0.0/190XB%252C496RC2/_/TR190XB%2BHD496RC2) - package price about $280 each. How is the low light performance on these cams? Are they managing noise well?
SEANHAWG 1 Posted April 16, 2011 I would hate to accidentally break one of those, drop them in the lake, drop them off the ladder, etc.

Soundy 1 Posted April 16, 2011 Yeah, Yaletown at night, not a lot of street lighting - everyone seems to like it "low-key" in the area, more trendy that way...

I simply log in to demo server original pix are 16 mp I resize them to 640x480 for forum and sample taken at 10:30 pm Thanks. That's not too bad at all. In the second shot I can see the ambient light source being reflected off the bricks so I am guessing there is probably more light than what one would find in most poorly lit situations. I think the weird coloration on the dumpsters is from flare or reflections of a nearby light source on the camera's enclosure. The noise looks acceptable. I guess the true test would be to see images from an area that is only lit by a full moon with no other light pollution. I would like to be there in person to see this installation and lighting to be 100% sure. Thanks again for posting these images as they are very helpful. cp4874 0 Posted April 18, 2011 Thank you so much mates. After searching the net I had sent enquiries to 2 companies. I had sent enquiries for the following products http://ascendentdvr.com/ptz/10km-ir-ptz-laser.html http://www.cohu-cameras.com/products/vidcams/8800.html waiting for their quotes. I shall also check out the alternatives you guys have suggested. Rgds CP
