WTFool 0 Posted April 19, 2011 Hey everybody. Was browsing around for a wire labeler and came across this site. I am the surveillance manager for a casino in oklahoma. Before becoming the manager i was the surveillance tech. We run a honeywell enterprise digital recording system with a videoblox analog switch. We have around 300 inputs coming in over mini coax into a distribution amp that splits the line into our 2 systems. On the digital side it goes into an encoder that runs the video into our server and raid network. The other side simply goes into our video blox for real time 1:1 viewing and PTZ control. We use a mixture of older pelco small box cameras and newer honeywell small box cameras. Most of which are in a Pelco DF5 ceiling mount or pendant can. I stopped ordering pelco after they were bought out but i still prefer their domes as they are roomy and easy to get into. As far as PTZs we use the Spectra IV and the Honeywell Acuix PTZ. Hope to talk to a lot of you. It is rare to come across people who even understand what i am talk about, let alone understand maintaining these types of systems. Currently i'm browsing for a proper wire labeler. We are planning an expansion and instead of doing POE through an NVT solution (we've done that in the past and i did not care for it) i'm leaning towards still pushing a cat 5 to each camera with an 18-2 twisted pair for power. Doing the video over 1 pair and going directly into our encoders that way. This will leave me spare pairs incase a video or power wire goes south. But with all the extra pairs laying around it would benefit me to have a decent labeler that prints on the tubes that go around the wire more so than a sticker that usually ends up on the floor after a while. As far a labeler, I'd love to have a good one to work with, but the boss doesn't believe it's worth the investment. I've played a bit with the Rhino systems and they seem to work really well... they do have heat-shrink tube labels that would be ideal for this purpose. http://www.rhinolabeling.com/ Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Soundy 1 Posted April 20, 2011 Depends where you can source them... our wholesaler often has a deal on where you buy "X" amount of labels and they throw in the labeler for free. Cost of the labels is usually about equal to the cost of the labeler itself, so it's essentially a half-price deal. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
