What is your opinion.

Recommended Posts

I have dealt with AMAG.S2.Lenel.Brivo.northen.and a few others.Im 58 and still love this kinda of work.

I have been in this field since 3/13/81

But I have started with a new company, and theres only 3 of us that do ACS.

And these other guys like to dress theire wires inside of panels by twisting them with a drill.

All of the pairs contact, lock power ,rex so each pair is twisted.and terminated at the panel.

Yes It looks Good.

Can anyone tell me why this is not a good idea, Any thoughts?? Opinion any one??

Thanks

It's fine. Most of it is only carrying 12-16V power so there's not an issue there at all. And yes, it looks neat. Presentation is a good thing. TOo many times I've opened a panel to discover a birds nest.

Yeah, no problems with doing that... we used to do the same to make wiring bundles for car alarm systems.

MMM! could it colapse the field and lend it self to be more seseptable to interference??

were are talking about 12vdc and 24vdc.

Is not a card reader a winding of tightly wound coper that generates an electrical magnectic field?

to read a card?

Is not a motor a tightly wound copper??

Im not so sure you guys are correct.

I see it done all the time and im trying to go with it but im having a hard time with it.

I want some one here to really try to turn me on this.

If you think deaply in to this you may find its not such a good idea.

Am I wrogh????

Thanks for the input guys.

Paul

Do you mean all the wires per door are twisted, or all wires per panel? Either way, I'd rather keep them untwisted and manage the wire with tie wrap retainers and tie wraps. It helps tracing wires later when not all twisted together. Just my 2 cents.

ChrisH I am with you, but I am looking to hear a more technical or a electrical theory.

Hopefully we can hear from an electrical engin.

I am looking for facts.

I cant change some ones mind of doing things with out, why it should not be done that way.

Other then it looks good.

Thanks you guys for your opinions. Hopefully we can all learn some thing here.

A good debate is how we all get a higher learning if we keep an open mind.

good forums.

Looking foward to hear some more comments.

thanks

What if the wires get skinned and they touch when twisted?

When I used to do alarms I would keep the wires apart especially the power.

One can still make it look "neat" and "real good" without twisting them.

But then again who will see it, as long as it is easy to maintain and works, that is what really matters.

Those are all examples of wires wound around a core. That's not the case here.

Think of it this way: you're making your own UTP (unshielded twisted pair), just like it Cat3, Cat5 and Cat6 network cables.
