notquitecable 0 Posted April 24, 2011 My old DVR used BNC to go to the monitors. I put in a Geovision card into a computer now and have VGA and DVI out. I need two displays, and the problem im having is one of my displays is 80-100 feet away, and currently is a rg59 cable which worked great for the BNC monitor. But now, i'll have a VGA/DVI instead, and I want to know if I can somehow still use that rg59 cable, or do I need to somehow run a long VGA cable. A quick google search didn't show any simple DVI to BNC adapters. Thanks
Soundy 1 Posted April 24, 2011 You have a couple options... you could use an AverKey device, which is designed to convert a VGA display to BNC. Running full VGA to a VGA monitor will give better results; if you don't want to use a long VGA cable, you can use a set of VGA baluns and run it over a length of Cat5e or Cat6 network cable. rory 0 Posted April 24, 2011 With Geo? Forget the VGA converter, quality will be awful, do like Soundy Suggested and get a cat5 VGA extender.
