34Ford 0 Posted April 25, 2011 My dads house is about 200 ft. away and I was wondering if its possible to connect a dvr to a linksys wap54g in his house and have it talk to my linksys wrt54g router. He dont have internet.
Soundy 1 Posted April 25, 2011 You might be able to do it with high-gain directional antennas, but it would still have to be line-of-sight. 200' is just too far for consumer WiFi to work reliably.
34Ford 0 Posted April 26, 2011 So it could work other than maybe a weak signal? Not that it would be any stronger, but would a wireless bridge be better?
Soundy 1 Posted April 26, 2011 IF you could get a stable link, it would work... although probably very slowly. A "wireless bridge", speaking generically, is what you're attempting to do. To do it properly, you'd need to look at something like Ubiquiti products, which are designed for directional, long-range WiFi.
