Flicks 0 Posted April 25, 2011 I am looking to boost up the IR illumination for a couple of the cams. Has anyone tried the bulb type IR illuminator like the one shown in this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Indoor-IR-Illuminator-Led-Night-Vision-CCTV-Camera-/260739544655?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb549b64f Thanks. Tim Norton 0 Posted April 25, 2011 Hi, I cannot say I have ever seen one like this before. I am making an assumption it is a IR LED type so power consumption will be low. In my experience, if it is a smallish room, the IR reflects around a lot so gives reasonable results. However I would expect this will give a massive bright spot directly below it, which if the bulb is in the middle of the roof, pointing down will be a problem as it will cause the camera to flare. If I was to use it, I would mount it either on tha same wall as the camera or in a desk mount lamp, shining up to the ceiling so you are only getting the reflected light, which will be more even. If you do end up getting one, I would love to see or hear about the results.
