masterblogger 0 Posted April 25, 2011 I understand that ir can attract spiders but what about roaches? Me & roaches don't get along at all. Huge phobia! Somebody please tell me that i'm not going to have a problem with IR cameras outside my house.
Soundy 1 Posted April 25, 2011 The IR doesn't attract spiders... the IR and the heat attract flying bugs, and flying bugs attract spiders... and more specifically, spider webs. Roaches like things like food scraps and garbage... I don't think they'll care about IR.
survtech 0 Posted April 25, 2011 I think these giant roaches are attracted to IR.
masterblogger 0 Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks for the visual picture survtech I had to ask this question after reading this post. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22455&hilit=spiders (we did this every 2 weeks for motion detectors at the 2 major food stores here in their warehouses, the ****roaches and spiders loved them, but this worked for a week or so at a time to help prevent false alarms, didnt stop the huge rats though!) hardwired 0 Posted April 29, 2011 Well, roaches do like nesting inside warm electronics. I used to repair VCR's, and they would often be loaded with roaches nesting in them. Not sure that would be a problem with a camera with IR, though, they are (usually) sealed enough to keep roaches out, although an indoor dome might be an exception. This one may be more of a problem, though.....
