Security camera suggestions

Hi-

I have been a bit nervous since there has been news of some burglaries in my area. I live in an apartment and I am thinking of getting some type of camera installed in case someone breaks in. Now I know having a security camera does not mean 100% safety or is a deterrent. But I would just like to have something just in case.

 

Does anyone know what type of camera was used here?

My budget is small. I could probably stretch it up to $300.

 

I have heard that IP cameras are probably a good bet.

 

I do not have an iphone but is there anything to similar to what this guy had?
