AVTECH KPD674ZB Firmware too old??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I have an AVTECH KPD674ZB with firmware 1006-1001-1002-1002

I tried to update the firmware with 1030 release, but it says: firmware upgrade failed!!

I do not know what to do.. I put the 4 files in the video viewer firmware section updating, but nothing happens... The problem is also a western digital 500gb WD5000AAKX that it is not recognized by the DVR... NO HDD says... any idea? Thanks

Hi, you are right, that firmware is too old, I had the same problem with my AVTECH KPD674B-B but nobody seems to come up with the answer online!

The firmware must be updated using a USB stick (try a 2Gb one as only some work) the files you need are a collection download from here (no sure if I am allowed to post a URL as this is my first post) http://www.b2b-empretel.com/mercado/albums/albums/Software_Firmware/AVTECH/Firmware/KPD674ZB/ which is version 1015-1003-1008-1003.

Extract the files from the downloaded RAR file (search Google for WinRar) then copy these onto the USB stick using your PC into the root directory (do not create other directories). There are 4 files, all with _4.bin in the name.

Go to the DVR, login as admin user (password normally 0000) and using a mouse plugged into the front USB, right click and select system, tools, upgrade. It asks for the USB stick to be inserted, insert stick then the upgrade will start once you click OK. Takes about 2 mins, it then reboots. If asked to retain information, just click no.

This procedure is also the way to fix login problems with remote network access to the DVR. Without the upgrade, you cannot log into the system using any combination of admin/000 or admin /admin type of password. The later version software allows you to configure a number of users with usernames and passwords.

Once this is done, the DVR can be accessed from local network or using an iphone with the EagleEyes software.

Have fun!

I forgot to say that the HDD problem may go away if you update the firmware but your HDD is not in the current compatibility list so it may be a problem needing another HDD:
