MetzLyov 0 Posted June 30, 2005 Hey Guys.. What do you think of CoVi IP cameras??? We have used IPIX, but this brand is cheaper and apperently as good... I have few applications that I want to use this technology and I want to know what you take is or recommendation vs. IPIX... Levon
rory 0 Posted July 1, 2005 one thing that makes it better over others, is it is also an analog camera with normal BNC output Problem is, to really use their technology features, you have to use their DVR $$$
MetzLyov 0 Posted July 1, 2005 Rory, They do not make a DVR... It is not in their price book nor I have heard that they make them.. In their website they have something called HD Video Surveillance and Event Management System - http://covitechnologies.com/products/ip/crystalhd, but this is not a DVR rather a network utility... According to latest and greatest information on hand, it works perfectly with GE DVRs and Pelco DVRs (apperently a code was added or the communication protocol was modified in these series of DVRs)... I will find out more when we get the first units... Apperently we bought 100 of them for some project that requires it... Will be very interesting how CoVi will line up against IPIX... Stay tuned... rory 0 Posted July 1, 2005 Yeah but you dont get the benefit of the resolution that it uses, since the DVRs are only 720x480. At one point it was said they were having march networks make that system for them as they needed a DVR that could hadle the resolution .. its basically an analog camera that does multiple views, and it can be used on an IP network also . basically its a DVR, or an NVR .. either way you really need it to use the cameras features: # Digital Media Manager (Stream Management and Databased Media Archive) # Video Monitoring Software # Video Event Management Software # System Administration Software http://covitechnologies.com/products/analog
MetzLyov 0 Posted July 1, 2005 Thanks for the details.... Just found out that Bosch also started supporting this new technology with their latest DIBOS series that works with MPEG4 compression... Will be very interesting to see this combo, as we just seen one of this DVR from Bosch.. Apperently this DVR will be available in August.. American Dynamics is writing the code at the moment to work with this technology in their Intellex IP DVRs, which I am told will be first tested in Luxor in Las Vegas. It will be very interesting to see all these developments using this technology... Thanks, Levon
rory 0 Posted July 1, 2005 let us know when you get one in and send some feedback might like to try one regardless of which dvr supports it or not, still interesting either way .. also find out what they want for their management center thing too .. originally saw the camera a year ago was waiting to see what would happen with it .. thanks Rory
MetzLyov 0 Posted July 1, 2005 Stay tunned.... I will have about 100 of these suckers on hand soon and a project that will take all of them and then we will see its performance with several different DVRs, some of which are already in this facility and others that we will introduce... Levon I'd like to see them work too, is that a casino project you talking about? IPIX cannot go into casino yet - they do not meet the state 30fps requirement. But I dont know why you even compare them? CoVi vs IPIX? 2 different animals, nothing in common. Plus CoVi is a little behind on integration with other partners... They are catching up now thou... We'll see.
