J-Telectro 0 Posted May 9, 2011 Hi Everyone, I'm new to this so please forgive if these questions have already been answered. 1. I need to run some siamese cable underground to 4 camera locations in my yard. The longest run will be about 150 feet. I intend to put these in pvc conduit but I've been told that I can expect some standing water inside the conduit and junction boxes. Do I need to use direct burial cable for this or will standard cable last? 2. I am planning to use KT&C KPC-S190SWX cameras hidden in some sort of enclosure (yet to be determined). How do these cameras stack up against others in their price range? I'm on a limited budget. I've tried one and it seems to do well but I'd appreciate any feedback anyone may have. Thanks
Tailbone215 0 Posted May 9, 2011 Use the conduit. If you seal the conduit and boxes properly you won't have any issues. This is the best protection for your cabling. Plus, pulling a new wire through conduit is cheaper and easier than trenching again. Even the jacket of direct burial cable can be nicked and water will get in. Been there with sight lighting and direct burial.
