Does anyone know of a swipe card system that would allow they employee to push a button, either in or out and swipe their card or tag and record the time and date? If anything just a simple system that would record the time and date of each swipe and store it on a computer?

So... you want them to push a button to open the door, then swipe their card to record their access? Seems like a system that's designed to fail, as most people will be too lazy to swipe if they don't have to.

If you're just recording when employees come and go, a cheaper method would be a proper time-clock setup.

Otherwise, the option would be a swipe-activated access system, where they HAVE to swipe to unlock the door (although fire code would probably require a crash bar or paddle or similar exit option that doesn't require a swipe).

Why make them press a button when you can just let them swipe to open the door and record it that way? SEems to me as if you're adding an extra unnecessary step.

With that in mind, any access control system worth its salt should do that.

Soundy's correct, you will need to allow for free egress at all fire exits. You may be able to do it with a long range read such as RFID and build it into the company ID badge, this would record the exit without having to swipe. Any access control software will be able to report ins/outs

Not sure if you are trying to use this to track employees or their time, but be aware that using a card access system alone for time keeping not legal in the US. It must be a timeclock that acutally displays the time on it. Otherwise like the other posters said, any card access system can show history with just card reads.

you can use a access controller with various kinds of reading card devices ( incl. swipe card or push button ) to keep in and out record. the access controller connecting to PC via TCP/IP, should within $200, you can build it.

Paxton's Net2+ will do this with a single controller and server. You just designate one reader as "Clock In" and one as "Clock Out" and it'll deal with it.

If you have multiple locations/buildings, you just pop a seperate Net2+ in each location, tie it to your network, and it's job done.

I've mentioned Net2+ as it's the newer product with built in ethernet, but the standard Net2 product will also do this, just that you'll need a seperate RS485 dongle and the TCP/IP on the Net2+ is cheaper to go for.

This is a very basic function of access control system, which is recording card-open and button-open events in software, even there is emergency open in controller, but it will not influence normal card-open and button-open activities and storage. you should be able to find such equipment very easily, call a few access control system installers in your area, they surely will provide your such system.
