LillDragun 0 Posted May 21, 2011 I am looking to get something for my restaurant and I'm tossing up the idea of buying a Samsung kit. I'm looking at the: SDE-4001 from Costco http://www.samsungsv.com/Model/Detail/10/Samsung-SDE-4001N-8-Channel-DVR-Security-System or SDE-4002 from Amazon http://www.samsungsv.com/Model/Detail/12/Samsung-SDE-4002N-8-Channel-DVR-Security-System Has anyone heard anything about the build quality and recording quality of the Samsung units? Hi buying samsung DVRs is a minefield. samsung dont make budget or cheap dvrs but what they do DO is licence there name out to others. like the ones you have listed over spec. IPS are not the same as FPS so 200 ips is only 100 FPS. samsung do make there own DVRs but you will find that the price is much higher. SHR-A range are good little samsung dvrs and i would say that the SHR range is the cheapest true samsung dvr. but if that is out of your price range then have a look at the Dahua dvrs much better spec than the systems you have posted lots of support both on here and the manufacturer. one other thing i would say is dont use box systems. buy your dvr and look for cameras for each enviroment in your install. SEANHAWG 1 Posted May 21, 2011 Yes its a shame that Samsung makes those box systems because it puts a bad name on all of their other good security products. I never understood why they did that. I am sure money had a part in it though.
