liveinxs 0 Posted May 22, 2011 Hello all, i am new to this site, first post and also i am new to the CCTV world, i was wondering if someone might be able to assist me with a problem i am having with my home cctv system. i just purchased a 8 ir camera, dvr system off ebay, its from Dowson, i paid roughly 600.00, the cameras seem pretty decent, i do plan on buying better cameras down the road, but for now they are pretty good, again i am new to this stuff, so please don't bash me for buying a low price setup.. now to my problem, the cameras have an excellent picture during the day, BUT, at night some of the cameras, exhibit a poor picture, there is a lot of distortion of the image, and some are pretty dark, while others show a pretty decent nightvision image.. also the cameras that exhibit image issues changes, it is not always the same cameras... now these cameras are powered by a single power adapter, its 12 volt and 3amp, into a 1 into 8 output splitter... i have done some research and believe i am experiencing a power shortage problem, could some of the cameras not be receiving enough power due to the power adapter.. i was thinking of going to a wall mounted power panel that supplies 1 amp to each channel.. could my power adapter be the cause of the issues , i have described above.. also i was under the belief that ir nightvision cameras exhibit a black and white image at night, but my cameras display a color image, is that normal... thanks for any help.. Eric When turn on the IR illumination, in your system voltage drop down, which may interfere with the cameras image. Replace the power adapter with a larger example, 12V/5A or use two power adapters instead of one.
