Biffa 0 Posted May 23, 2011 Hi all Ive been working on setting up the DVR to email me for over 2 days now and im at my wits end, I feel like ripping it out and jumping up and down on the thing. I need to get it to email me when it detects motion etc but it constantly shows as 'failed' in the system log. I have tried it with different SMTP servers and I still cannot get it to email me. I want to go back to basics and work it out but 'I cant see the wood for the trees' anymore and really need some help / input from you guys who can do this with your eyes shut... Leohuangdi 0 Posted May 26, 2011 In this case, the problem maybe is in your router. Probably it blocks the email. If you have the opportunity, should have to try the dvr with a different internet connection. What about the old dvr? did you throw away? The firmware was right (unless your dvr is a B version) but probably you didn't do the upgrade correctly. Maybe it was still possible to fix it. Leo

Leo I managed to get email sent out correctly in the end, it was a LAN issue happy I still have the AVtech DVR but its dead, I am unable to view it as I connect it to a display and when it boots up I see the h.264 screen, then it shows black and purple bars accross the screen and then reboots. How would I be able to get a new firmware into it ?

Biffa 0 Posted May 30, 2011 Hi Leo I am trying what you have sent to me and I still have the same problem. I did see in the top left of the H.264 screen some words saying reset default complete rebooting system... but it beeps about 10 times and then displays the purple and black bars, I have attached images of it so you can see what I mean

Leohuangdi 0 Posted June 10, 2011 Hi Alex, Here there is the manual reset for KPD674ZB https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B_Tf3Yb1yhhRY2FiMmFlNGMtMjkwMC00NDZlLTg2ODEtZjUyN2VkZjMyODgw&hl=en_US&authkey=CIGi8dgB Unfortunally with Biffa it's not working, probably needs to change some components in the dvr.
