dssk 0 Posted May 27, 2011 I am looking into buying a DVR and trying to figure out what D1 means. Been searching but maybe my combination of search words isn't pulling up anything helpful. When I asked the seller if the DVR was full D1, this was the response: 8ch D1+8ch CIF sametime Please help me understand what that means. Here is the rest of the specs on the DVR unit i'm looking at. Soundy 1 Posted May 27, 2011 This describes CIF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Intermediate_Format D1 is essentially the same as 4CIF, at least as it applies to CCTV.
Nimrod 0 Posted May 27, 2011 “When I asked the seller if the DVR was full D1, this was the response: 8ch D1+8ch CIF sametime” D1 720 x 480 NTSC CIF 352 x 240 NTSC So he is saying that the max you can run the dvr is 8 channels at D1 and 8 channels at CIF for a total of 16 channels at the same time. Better dvr’s will let you run 16 channels at D1 at same time. Also there should be the all important FPS spec that tell you when running max channels at max D1 and CIF each channel will run at so many FPS. Frames Per Second, 30 fps best, 10 to 15 ok, 5 fps garbage, per channel.
