Nimrod 0 Posted June 6, 2011 Does anyone know if a IQeye511 with 4 to 10mm lens will fit in this Arecont vision 4 inch housing. http://www.arecontvision.com/4inch-dome.html
Soundy 1 Posted June 6, 2011 It says it's designed to fit all of Arecont's box cams... the ones I've used (the "compact" models - http://www.arecontvision.com/index.php?section=product&category_id=22) are pretty similar in size to the 511, so it SHOULD work. IQ lists the 511 as 2.91" x 3.46"; the Arecont models all list a hair smaller at 2.5" x 3", with the larger models being 2.25" deep and the "compact" units being 1.25" deep. skane 0 Posted June 6, 2011 I have one of the 4" Arecont dome enclosures. They are very well made/solid. The mounting design requires that the camera be same height as an Arecont box cam. There are two plates that attach on the top and bottom of the camera, and the plates ride within a black plastic sphere that provides 2-way axis (the plates riding in sphere provide 3rd axis). If the camera is shorter in height than an Arecont camera, one could possible shim the top and bottom of the camera to correct height. The camera must also be same length or shorter than a standard size Arecont box cam, or there won't be ample clearance for lens. Same goes for width of camera. It's best suited for the Arecont compact box cams; if using a standard size Arecont box cam, a very short lens (like the old Arecont fixed focal/iris lenses) must be used. Nimrod 0 Posted June 6, 2011 From Skane’s post about fit, and the measurements from Soundy, and looking closely at the dome picture with camera mounted, i would say that the .4 to .5 inches bigger the IQeye is, will prevent it from fitting in the Arecont housing. Can someone please give me the next housing up in price this might fit in. Must be outdoor rated.
Soundy 1 Posted June 7, 2011 Are you set on an Arecont bubble? I've got a 511 running inside a Specta III enclosure on one site, fits in there with LOTS of room to spare.
Nimrod 0 Posted June 7, 2011 I do not care who makes the housing. This is for me for home use to play with. These guys make some inexpensive housings, if you use there indoor ones. It looks like they call there outdoor housings indoor if no fan and heater is installed. http://www.videolarm.com/family_item.jsp?content=254&model=17409
Soundy 1 Posted June 7, 2011 If it says it's IP65 or IP66, you should be fine for outdoor use. Heater/blower really shouldn't be a big issue in most cases.
