danjaeggi 0 Posted June 16, 2011 Hi all, Has anyone had any luck setting up their ECO4 to be able to view the cameras over the internet? We can view the cameras with both the web viewer tool and the Network Viewer tool while connected to the network, but both don't seem to be working remotely. We have a static IP address and have forwarded the proper port. Any ideas on what we're doing wrong? Thanks!

Not with luck either I think DM's DVR's need more than 1 port for remote viewing. I could be wrong though..check the manual their DVR should come with one, or try the tech support. If their product is with the $800 going for 4ch 40GB DVRs (whats that like 1 day of video) ... Their tech support should be able to answer your questions. I'm sure you have more and they will just Looove you
BlueN3m0 0 Posted October 28, 2011 Its my first time posting something in a forum so pls forgive if its not clear Mine is finally working. I had the same problem (worked when connected locally even via wireless but not via internet) but with many trail-and-errors i can now view images over the net. My setup is the basic; the DVR connected to the router, and the router to the cable modem. However, mine is a Digital Sprite 2 (cant remember the exact model) tho i dont think it will be too different.. If you've got it to work over local network but not the net, then i'm assuming you know your way round your router, system etc.. the following changes should work..: 1. Subnet-masks. The router, cable modem and the DVR must have the same subnet mask. e.g. my cable modem's subnet mask is 255.255.252.000 and this can't be changed so i changed the router's and DVR's subnet mask to match it. You can find out your modem's (NOT ROUTER) subnet mask via your router's admin page. If the modem's subnet mask is the only different one, then local connections to unit should be fine, but i only got connection via the net after only making all the subnet masks the same. 2. Port-Forwarding. Setup your router so that it forwards ports 8234 and 8235 to your DVR's IP-address. These ports are used by Network Viewer and Remote Admin. You can also forward port 80 for connecting via web-browsers. 3. The 'Default Gateway' of the DVR should be set to your router's default IP. This IP is the IP that you would use to go to your router's admin page. e.g. mine is 192.168.1.1 Talking from experience, restart all equipment after applying the above. Hope this helps.. (I couldn't find a program compatible on 64-bt Win7 to convert .dmi files (exported by Network Viewer) to a playable video file, so i wrote my own program that did it. Anyone interested just let me know, btw it's FREE )

BlueN3m0 0 Posted October 28, 2011 Thats what i was assuming, the DVR was listed in the router's 'Attached Devices' list only when subnets were the same. I'm no network guru, as i said this was all 'Trial&Error'. Have you tried it?
ssmith10pn 0 Posted October 29, 2011 What's the static IP of the DVR? I assume the Router is 192.168.1.1? What is your WAN IP? You can put XXX for your last octet but I need to know the first 3 octets.
