Samsung SCC-B5399 switch from NTSC to PAL?

Recommended Posts

The subject says it all, more or less...

Is it possible to switch a Samsung SCC-B5399N to become a SCC-B5399P?

I switched my DVR (Samsung SHR-8080) from NTSC to PAL easily, by just adding a jumper between two pins on the motherboard.

I bought my 6 SCC-B5399P cameras here in Europe, but they seem to be discontinued here now, but are still avail. online in the NTSC-version.

Thanks.

H.

I doubt it

I had this issue with a batch 50 B5368 domes which had landed in NTSC format no use to me in UK, all had to go back for replacment

You could always switch your DVR back to NTSC and just use the network viewer and not use a monitor at all, of course you would need to make sure that you get your network configured before you switch over to NTSC.

Or, if you have a VGA input on your monitor, just use it as I do not think those are susceptible to PAL and NTSC video standards. I could be wrong thought about that but I was able to get a PAL dvr onto my NTSC TV that had a VGA input and the display worked just fine.

Only experience I had with PAL was with the Dahua Firmware, if its PAL its still a BW wavy image even over the network where everything is NTSC here, same on the VGA LCD.

That would work, if it wasn't for the 6 SCC-B5399 PAL domes already installed... I want to add another one to the system. I found two online shops in the UK claiming to have them in stock, so I emailed them. Expecting feedback from them Monday.

The SHR-8080 has VGA out, HDMI out, composite video out, 2x spot, 8x loop, etc. It's a lovely piece of machinery!

Thanks anyway! All input is appreciated!

Well I'd start by taking it all apart - gotta get to the PCB. Most likely, there is a jumper or similar on the camera as well.

You read my mind! I will do that next week, if I can't get hold of the P-ver. in UK this week.

Is it possible to get hold of service/repair manuals or parts lists for these cams? Anyone of you pros who can help?

I just found this while google'ing (again):

Switchable from NTSC to PAL

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/120688047153

and the oposite:

PAL version and NTSC version are using different CCD sensors, so "NO" they are not changeable by flipping a switch (has to change the entire sensor motherboard).

Hmmmm....

Hi everyone. I managed to I switch my DVR (Samsung SHR-6162) from NTSC to PAL by adding a jumper between two pins on the motherboard. I got PAL broadcast format, but now my DVR does not record events. If "show events" is marked, it shows events, that means it reacts to motion, but doesn't record motion. Record schedule, motion region and all other options are right......maybe I have to change something.....maybe record quality and resolution settings, ips et.c.? I'd appreciate your help.
