Warehouse CCTV Cameras

Recommended Posts

I need cameras for a warehouse. These Cameras will need to cover the aisles. Each aisle is 11 feet wide and 330 feet long. Cameras will be about 20 feet high from the ground. We are planing to install 2 cameras per aisle, each pointing at the opposite direction with 20 feet of overlapping area. Meaning each camera needs to cover about 175 feet. One important spec is night vision.

I emailed few companies and they seem to wanna sell me what they have and not what I need.

Anybody installed cameras in such similar scenario? if so what cameras brand and model did you use?

Everyone, I appreciate your suggestions. Thank you.

I havent installed new cameras, just repaired or replaced a few for the same type, but it was in a similar application, isles around the same length, a little narrower, and 30 feet high to the ceiling. They had some IR bullets in there (among others including IR domes) but ofcourse at that height the average Color IR camera does nothing at night when the lights go off. In this case they dont care about that though as the other main entrances of the warehouse have lighting and are covered otherwise.

If you want to light that up, will need some serious IR .. forget any IR domes to begin with, and with bullets its still going to be so so .. look for something with a 5-50mm lens and 200' of claimed IR ... it will always be less but since its an isle the objects will help the IR once it is more powerful than the average IR bullet/Dome. The height is the killer. Also need to come back from the start of the isle around 20'.

You could probably use a 2.8-11mm camera also and zoom it to 11mm but typically the IR is pretty weak on them. The 5-50mm ones will cost alot more though.

Problem is though you still wont see much for identification beyond 30-50'. Really need at least 3 cameras, maybe 4, for that length. I told my clients that also but they are pretty much stuck on 2 per isle for now, they already have 60 cameras as it is, includes a shop and offices, outside, loading docks etc.

Example:

Looks like you could spin the mount upside down and remove the sunshield.

Otherwise, some Domes, drop them down with some pendant mounts, and add separate Infrared.

Example:

Or less expensive, and 2.8-11mm ...

Just ideas .. maybe someone that has done this already can pitch in

Threw this out in another thread recently, but if the warehouse has lights, just install occupancy sensors on the lights instead of dealing with night vision. Occupancy sensors will turn on the warehouse lights whenever they detect motion, and will turn the warehouse lights off automatically after so many minutes.

You can sell it to the customer for energy savings too as it will turn the warehouse lights out whenever they aren't needed and automatically turn them on when needed during normal business hours. Only downside is a new light might need to be installed for this to work, but again, the energy savings for this should pay for itself over time.
