cuesporttech 0 Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) .......................................... I have a client whom purchased a Zmodo DVR-DC3116 capture card. They simply cannot afford a higher priced (better quality) card. The problem is that I'm having a hell of a time with the crappy software that came with this card as it crashes and has so few features. I would REALLY like to know if anyone knows or can help me discover any other DVR and/or NDVR Hybrid software I could use instead with this card. In fact, Zmodo tech support told me they know of customers with this card that successfully used different software with it, but they did not know which software package it was. So, if someone could help me figure out a work-around with another software that would work with this card and the driver I already have installed, then I would be wonderfully appreciative! Here's a link to the card... Edited July 7, 2011 by Guest
cuesporttech 0 Posted July 7, 2011 I am willing to send a $20 PayPal payment to whomever helps me find a viable solution here. Thanka again everyone!
Soundy 1 Posted July 7, 2011 There is no such thing as "universal" DVR software. In addition to the crappy software you (or your client) got with this card, you also probably got crappy drivers cobbled together by a half-assed programmer from an SDK for the chipset used... drivers which may cause other software to crash or not work properly, either. Zmodo tech support told me they know of customers with this card that successfully used different software with it, but they did not know which software package it was This says to me that they're either stupid, or they're lying through their teeth to avoid having to refund your client. If they're telling the truth, and they're not stupid, they'd be keeping a record of what other software their customers have reported as working, as this is apparently an issue that comes up regularly. Your most viable solution is to tell your client to return the thing for a refund and put that towards a good name-brand card that comes with decent software. cuesporttech 0 Posted July 8, 2011 Actually yes, this is a card that 'I' purchased for my client and installed for them in a new server I built. When I called Zmodo tech support complaining, they offered to give me a full refund with no issues or restocking fees. I only had to pay the return shipping. Now, this does me absolutely no good whatsoever, because my client simply cannot afford to spend even $100 more on a better card/software and I'm not going to buy one for $500-1000 and be stuck with the difference. So... the ONLY direction I am able to go is toward finding a compatible driver and improved software with this (Conexant CX25821) Chipset. I'm sure it IS possible, because I have been able to manage similar work-arounds, hack and tricks with different video, sound and other hardware cards. If anyone is able to assist me with this, as I said, I will gladly pay them for their help. Thank you very much! I also found this card under another name of VG-9116E and they both have the same ADC Chip Rate: Conxant 10bit chip. Here's the link to that card... rory 0 Posted July 8, 2011 You could try Luxriot, though it may only work with 1 channel.
cuesporttech 0 Posted July 8, 2011 You could try Luxriot, though it may only work with 1 channel. I just installed Luxriot and am unable to acquire any video from the dvr (capture) card. It appears to be a pure NVR with no ability to acquire video from anything other than the network. So, I guess my question is... Was your idea for me to keep the other crappy software running as a web server and then to pick-up those 16 cameras 'streams' with Luxriot?
rory 0 Posted July 8, 2011 Luxriot generally works for webcams and generic cards. I got a geovision card to work with Luxriot before using the Bt drivers, only one channel though with that card I used. You would need to try the btwincap drivers: http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/ Related threads: (explains how to use btspy to get the channels etc) viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3865&p=31027&hilit=btwincap#p31027 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10140&p=66402&hilit=btwincap#p66402 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1712&p=12670&hilit=btwincap#p12670
cuesporttech 0 Posted July 9, 2011 Ok, I hear you, but I do not know how to add a dvr/capture card such as the GeoVision card you used in the software. I have looked all over the options. What am I missing and can you direct me toward being able to acquire directly from the PCI-E DVR card instead of only being able to pick up ip cameras or web servers via ip address. Thank you very much!
cuesporttech 0 Posted July 9, 2011 This is directly off the company website here, so I know you're right, but I just can't figure it out and they don't seem to have any type of FAQ or knowledge database to answer these types of questions. "Luxriot is an open architecture Video Management System (VMS). Luxriot accepts MJPEG, MPEG4 and H.264 as well as HD and megapixel video streams from Network (IP) cameras, encoders and video capture boards. Luxriot is integrated with over 900 devices from all major manufacturers including Axis, Arecont Vision, Basler, SANYO, SONY, IQinVision, UDP and others. This along with Luxriot client-server architecture allows to build hybrid scalable solutions from a single NVR/DVR to the multiple server system handling thousands of cameras." cuesporttech 0 Posted July 9, 2011 The ONLY thing I was able to find as far as online FAQ/tech support was this... (http://www.luxriot.com/eng/blog/how-to/how-to-add-and-configure-generic-jpeg-mjpeg-mpeg4-h264-cameras-with-luxriot-dvr-software/). I'm assuming with this cheaper 'Zmodo' card, I will surely have to add a 'Generic' card as it's not a main-stream card such as GeoVision and many others. Except this page is 'again' only geared toward IP cameras and I obviously need the capture card instead right now. I mean, my client also has like 2 IP cameras, but the other 24 are all CCTV cams hooked up through the DVR card, so this is my main focus right now. Thanks again for your help and I've been contributing to other threads as well.
rory 0 Posted July 9, 2011 Its been years but here is a quote from one of my posts back then: basically what I did is use BTSpy (also downloadable from the same link for the BTwincap software) and save the results as a text file. You must run the existing DVR card software with at least the one single camera conected to port 1 and active, following the BTspy directions, click on the channel as it asks. Then uninstall the DVR card drivers from the control panel, system, then run Bt drivers installer and select custom, select the text file saved from Btspy and then it should work with generic software, including WebCamXP, among others.
