trixrabbit 0 Posted July 10, 2011 Hi everyone I was wondering if you can help me out, I set up a Dedacated PC to be made into a DVR for my cam system, but the tv tunercard i was going to use decided not to work SO, i need to buy a new one, I was wondering what would work better, a PCI 4ch 10 bit card ( the one i think im getting) or these DVR USB plug ins i found. From my exp with anything on a PC the USB type cards dont seem to work out as good as a PCI card in the computer. What do you guys think? Ill be running this comp on XP or win 7 depending. The computer im using is and old 1.4 ghz AMD XP 2200, with 728 mb ram ( a stick of 512 i had in it went bad in storage i guess) with a VIA chipset ( AURG) and for starters theres a 40 gb HDD, the HDD space is going to be made in to 120gb on 3 drives soon as the system actually is up and running. I was looking at cards and people told me the via chipsets had problems with some cards, but couldent tell me the problems and just said to use intel. Im NOT an intel fan at all but i so have an old intell chipset board and CPU laying around. So what do you guys think? Should i just go for it and if the AMD dont work out stwitch out the boards? The cam system is goign to be a 2 cam system, i got a new Night Vision 30 IR led cam on the way, to watch the cars in the front of my house and and old black n white that will be for just the front door.Im going to get more cams but i need the system to run first lol. any advice would help out. SECOND question, is there really a big diffrence with the 10 bit cards? they say the clarity of image is much better, is this true? thanks everyone !
