Small Casino Surveillance Setup

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to network surveillance, I primarily own a security patrol company and offer some cctv security products on the side to our clients. One of my clients who owns a small casino had asked me he wants to upgrade his existing analog cameras to all megapixel cameras. Any suggestions to which systems would fit this best for this type of low light indoor environment?

He stated he currently has 20 cameras, I believe 5-10 of them are PTZ and the rest stills. He has two PTZ controllers, and two small monitors which two security guys monitor and a big screen for an overview of all the cameras.

He also said he currently has a 100TB system, and wants about the same size in the new system..

I've looked around at Geovision and currently talking to Aventura, anything good about them or any recommendations?

Thanks,

Vincent

geo is a toy compaired to aventura. the aventura may seem to be expensive if you buy it fully loaded. the key is to buy with just the analytics you need and will use.

Make sure he understands that with megapixel, if he keeps the same size drive space, his retention (obviously) will be cut drastically from what he had with his analog cameras. Not sure if the casino requires a certain number of days of retention or not...

I believe they only need 7 days of retention on all cameras, however big jackpot deals/wins has to be kept for at least 30 days but they can probably just save that on a disc or something.

I just looked at our State requirements on Casino surveillance on digital, there has to be a minimum of 25/FPS but most cameras I see that are 3MP only run like at 22/FPS. I guess choose 2MP cameras and run at 30FPS then? Or any recommendation on a particular system?

Since your not a integrator that does this stuff daily and have access to the protected lines I would consider subbing it to a company that can do the big hitters in the industry.

Axis is a good IP line that can be bought through distribution but then you would need something like Omnicast for the software side.

Or Avigilon for the Software solution and a mixture of Axis and Avigilon for the cameras.

Is that a typo?

100TB for 20 analog cameras? How many years of storage is that?

100TB would handle the same quantity of mega pixel cameras at 100% duty cycle for 90+ days.
