Colm 0 Posted July 14, 2011 Hi people, just wandering did I plug in the wrong power supply for my new IP Encoder as its not working now, it worked for half a day then died, well didn't really die, the computer when loading it up no longer see's it, it switches on and I can even ping it with no packet loss, just fails to be seen as a device, I bought it with a PTZ and thinking now i plugged the higher output 12v power supply into the encoder or would it matter? the difference is one is 12V 2000mA output and the smaller one is 12V1.5A output any help is much app.. thanks
Soundy 1 Posted July 15, 2011 Current rating of the power adapter should make no difference, as long as it can provide *as much or more* current than the device requires. If the server specs a 1.5A source, then anything rated 1.5A *or higher* will do fine (providing it's the proper voltage, of course).
