survtech 0 Posted July 24, 2011 We've used the ICD-505 box cameras and the ISD-A30 domes; mostly with good results. They're very well made, as evidenced by their 5 or 10-year warranties, but the company does tend to be a bit slow in their development cycle. We've never had one fail. The ICD-505's have excellent picture quality at lower light levels than some other analog box cameras; which is where we often deployed them. But their AGC is on all of the time, causing somewhat "muddy" pictures at medium light levels (like many others) and making them unsuitable for critical lower-light applications like table games. The ISD-A30's do have adjustable iris and AGC but pictures can be darker than some cameras give with AGC minimized on some medium-dark scenes. Both tend to be on the expensive side. We have found other suitable options at far better pricing (Vitek, for one).
thewireguys 3 Posted July 24, 2011 Carl thank you. What Vitek cameras to you recommend? What are your thoughts on Bosch?
survtech 0 Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) We just started using the VTD-A2812/I indoor domes in the past few months. We've already installed around 150 of them during our remodel. Only one bad one so far. The internal "ball" aiming mechanism takes a bit of getting used to but allows great flexibility in aiming. The only downside is a slight difficulty adjusting and locking the focus knob due to lack of clearance. Pricing is excellent - far less than most of the competition and on the order of many inexpensive box cameras alone. We've also tested the VTC-C770WS box camera and were impressed with its picture quality and capabilities. A bit pricey compared to the Pelco C10 and Ikegami ICD-505 cameras but cheaper than most other high-quality Pixim WDR box cameras. It also fits in Pelco DF5 domes - a huge plus for us. We haven't done much with Bosch. Their box cameras are too big to fit in DF5's. Never tried their mini domes. Edited July 24, 2011 by Guest
rory 0 Posted July 24, 2011 Big thumbs down for Vitek. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22417&hilit=Vitek&start=
survtech 0 Posted July 24, 2011 Big thumbs down for Vitek.viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22417&hilit=Vitek&start=15 I can't link to that to either agree with or refute the discussion - "You are not authorised to read this forum." All I can say is that we have installed at least 150 of them with only one problem unit - it failed to focus well.

This http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=578 Claims it is a TRUE day Night with ICR, when it is NOT. Had 3 units, spoke with Vitek they promised it is a TDN, sent them back, they sent the same rubbish back to me, $200 for a COLOR IR Bullet. I wouldnt touch another Vitek. (rebranded anyway)
survtech 0 Posted July 24, 2011 Sorry, I can't comment on their bullet cameras and we don't need day/night in the casino. All I know is that their VTC-C770WS is specifically designed for casino use and works as well as, or better than, the alternatives at a much lower price point and their VTD-A2812/I indoor dome costs exactly the same as Pelco's C10CH-6 box camera and includes a 2.8-12mm A/I lens and enclosure for that price. Typical mini-domes from other manufacturers with the same lens and feature set cost $70 to $150 more. As they say in the business: YMMV.
rory 0 Posted July 25, 2011 I just find it strange with all the legal stuff and BBB stuff in the US how some American companies can lie so boldly and still be in business. Sounds more like something a 3rd world company would do. PS. the price and specs on that dome are standard in the industry now, other than big brands like bosch etc
thewireguys 3 Posted July 25, 2011 Rory any feed back on Ikegami cameras?
rory 0 Posted July 25, 2011 Never used them, but heard nothing but good things about them for the past 10 years, seems they have been around a long time.
survtech 0 Posted July 25, 2011 PS. the price and specs on that dome are standard in the industry now, other than big brands like bosch etcBeg to differ... 99% of the domes in that price range have AGC that's always on (can't be turned off). Most also don't have full 3-axis capability. Those are deal killers in my industry.

Sounds more like something a 3rd world company would do. The BBB is useless IMO. I found out through bitter experience that they really aren't out to protect the consumer so much as to line their pockets through membership fees. Example: Rip-off Report "BBB treats companies that are BBB members COMPLETELY differently than companies who are not BBB members. They are extremely unfair to companies who do not pay the yearly BBB fee and yet let companies who are BBB members get away with so much."

Those are deal killers in my industry. CNB, KT&C, and pretty much all the OEM domes from Korea and even China have the same features, almost identical OSD menu, AGC can be disabled etc, and 3-axis is a must these days or they wont sell. Plus for the same cost of that indoor vitek color dome the others are TDN and outdoor/indoor.
