Vitek VT-DVR04 question

Hello,

I have a Vitek VT-DVR04 w/80g hd, got this used in a trade and am trying to make it useful. Here goes; the screen shows camera views, but the statement "Booting..." appears, the dvr then beeps 3 times and shuts down for about15 sec, then restarts with the same screen info "Booting..." , at this same time none of the buttons on the remote are useful, though the DVR recognizes the buttons push with a beep. I have given 8 hrs to BOOT, so does anyone have any advice to me on this? any tests you might suggest to narrow down this problem?

Hi remove the hard drive and reboot then see if your system stays on without hard drive.

Thanks for the test suggestion, Now with the HD removed, the system still performs the same on,off cycle, but now every other cycle shows a blank screen, then back to the booting screen on the following cycle.
